Welcome to Gran Gran's Foods!

Our Story

Delightful aromas wafted from Gran Gran Murray’s kitchen, from her treacle bread to her roast pork with crackling, perfectly paired with freshly made Bramley apple sauce. The stove emitted a perpetually beautiful scent. It was then that Nigel realised a career in the kitchen was definitely for him.
Years later, Nigel met Magaly in Venice, Italy, while both were working in the hospitality industry. They traveled together across the Caribbean and Mediterranean before finally settling in Peru, Magaly’s birthplace. Peru, rich in history, boasts a cuisine that seamlessly blends different cultures and ancient Peruvian food, creating something utterly unique.

Soon after, they decided to open Peru’s first Irish Pub, "Murphy’s," in Lima, offering locals and expats the best of Irish food and entertainment. "Murphy’s Irish Pub" proved to be a great success.

In 2005, they moved to Ireland with their three young kids: Sean, Brendan, and Nicole. Nigel worked as head chef at the Ardilaun Hotel and The Glenlo Abbey Hotel, all while holding onto the dream of owning their own business again.

The opportunity came in 2014. Gran Grans Foods was born with the purpose of sharing their culinary journey obtained around the world through the production of tasty handcrafted condiments following traditional and innovative recipes, using only quality fresh ingredients. In May 2021, another significant step in the journey of Gran Grans took place: they opened "Gran Grans Foods Pantry" beside the Post Office in Kilcolgan, Co Galway. There, they produce their entire range and showcase their products alongside other local Irish artisan produce and crafts, while offering an amazing array of fresh pastries, breads, and organic Peruvian coffee.

In the last three years Grans Grans Foods has gone from strength to strength thanks
to constructing our new production facility at the back of the Gran Grans Foods Pantry. This has allowed us to cater to many more customers and stockist across Ireland, the UK and even America, Germany & France while also experimenting with unique and exciting new products!

Gran Grans Foods Pantry is definitely worth a visit and a great addition to the area.

“Food and Memories have a strong emotional connection when you eat a food deep unconscious memories fly back.”

Gran Grans Foods was born with the purpose of sharing their culinary journey obtained around the world through the production of tasty handcrafted condiments following traditional and innovative recipes, using only quality fresh ingredients.
They built a customized kitchen on the grounds of their home, a polytunnel and a vegetable/herb garden for their homegrown ingredients.

A few years later and they can proudly say Gran Grans Foods has found a place in the heart of the Irish consumer. They feel lucky and blessed to have found a “Jar” where to pour their own experiences and passion for food.

Testimonials

I just had to write about this marmalade (Lemon Marmalade with Ginger and Cardamom)  I’ve never really liked marmalade but I do like lemon and ginger so I said I’d try it and I’m so glad I did it is really good. It’s 10.30 at night and I’m having it on brown bread because I can’t wait till morning. The tastes together work really well and I love the homemade packaging look. Try it !!!!!
